Who are we?
My name is Alissa Rhodes and our small ranch is a run by my mother and I with the most appreciated help of family and friends. As a city-girl, born and raised in Houston, I never had much to do with animals growing up, but after learning about the disturbing practices America uses to raise animals now, I new that I wanted to be part of a change. After college I worked on a dairy farm and a ranch to learn animal husbandry skills. After a year of work, I came home in 2012, my mother and I moved outside of Tyler where she grew up and bought a small ranch. Our first year, I raised baby calves and got my feet wet in the local ranching community. The next year we expanded to beef cows, sheep, laying hens, and meat chickens in an effort to become more sustainable. All of our animals are treated with dignity and respect.
